Taiwanese K, Week 10, 3-29-09

  • 4/5 No school. School resumes on 4/12. 

We missed Annika and Aaron today. They will be in Taiwan for 3 weeks.

We checked homework. I asked the kids to say the electronics in Taiwanese. Most of them did a good job. 

We reviewed lesson 6 tiexnsi電視 (Television), and did the exercise on the textbook. Then we reviewed Taiwanese alphabets. We taught 4 new words today: z (zaxng 粽), zh (zhaix 菜), s (say 獅), j (joah 熱).

We did a fan as craft which took up so much time that I was unable to have the kids do 複習二:通關遊戲. So it will be the homework, too.

Homework are:

  • Write 5 times of zaxng, zhaix, say, joah
  • 複習二:通關遊戲
  • Recognize flashcards of lesson 6
  • Listen to the CD and learn to sing lesson 6

Mandarin G2, Week 10, 3-29-09

今天愷菱沒來上課,他們回台灣度假去了,希望他們有個平安愉快的假期! 

不用交回家作業,不用小考,小朋友好輕鬆哦!一上課我先讓孩子們聽「畫」,他們覺得好好玩,因為只聽過聽「話」,很好奇聽「畫」是怎麼一回事?其實就和聽「寫」一樣,只是我要他們把聽到的話畫出來罷了。同學們畫了一幅有高高的樓房(Ezra畫了台北101)、低低的平房、一片草地、兩朵花、和自己躺在草地上(女生都把自己畫得好漂亮)。然後我再讓他們看看課本畫的,進入第11課的主題「房子」。

我讓孩子們把課文裡認得的字圈起來,有幾位小朋友把全課都圈起來了Surprised!Anica告訴我她第12課也會唸了,爸爸在家有叫她預習,聽得身為家長的我真是汗顏Cry。接著我們寫生字:住、樓、梯、寬、平、歡、爬、頂、躺、屋。同學學到22畫的「歡」都好興奮哦,這是他們目前學到最多筆畫的字。

在這課裡,我們教了疊字的用法,如上下->上上下下,高低->高高低低,疊字能加深形容詞的意境,不曉得小朋友能不能體會???

我拿出字卡,就有小朋友說要比賽,我說礙於時間的關係,今天我們只看這一課的,以後有時間會再玩字卡比賽。

我再一次重申負責的重要性:在家裡,當子女的要聽爸媽的話,當兄姐的要負責照顧弟妹,當弟妹的要尊敬兄姐。 

最後我拿出我的獎品,為了嘉獎孩子們期中考的好成績,並鼓勵他們上週上台演講/朗讀的勇氣。孩子們一個個挑走了好玩的玩具蛇、煙斗、吹泡泡,就是沒有人選可愛的免削鉛筆,看來這個年記的孩子還是天真愛玩的!

回家作業:

  • 第十一課課文(p. 64-65)讀3遍

  • 做第十一課的字卡

Taiwanese K, Week 9, 3-22-09

  • There's no school on 4/5. School resumes on 4/12. 
Today I returned the midterm test sheet. Teacher Amy made up the test for Eric and Hannahlise who were absent last week. Our kids all did very well. I start to think maybe I should give them some challenging ones next time. The score follows:
  • 100: 5
  • 90-99: 4
  • 80-89: 2

I reminded the kids their responsibilities as a student. I hope eventually they will do homework and prepare school supplies every time by themselves. (It's a long journey, I know.)

We taught Lesson 6: tiexnsi電視 (Television). The new words we learned were: tiexnsi電視 (TV)、portexhix布袋戲 (puppet show)、tiexnnao電腦 (computer)、tiexnhQea電火 (light)、tiexnhofng電風 (fan)、pengsviw冰箱 (refrigerator), in which they liked pengsviw most because there was ice cream in it. I also reviewed Taiwanese Alphabets taught before, and clarified some pronunciation for the kids.At last we did a craft. Everyone brought home a TV!Homework are:
  • 學習單6電視(Match and say the goods in Taiwanese.)
  • Make and recognize flashcards of lesson 6
  • Listen to the CD and learn to sing lesson 6

Taiwanese K, Week 7, 3-8-09

  • We'll have midterm next week. Please help your child review lessons 1-5.

Today we reviewed lessons 1-5, and taught new alphabets: c (cih 舌), ch (chiaf 車), s (sikoef 西瓜), j (jixtiern 字典). I found some kids could already sound the words out! I'll keep reminding them this set of phonics are different to that of English.

I told a story about responsibility: 守夜的雁,大意像我們國中課本的「孤雁」一樣,就是不負責站崗,害同伴被獵人射殺。Some kids thought it's a sad story. 我鼓勵小朋友從小要把爸爸媽媽和老師交代的事情做好,長大才能負責更重要的事。

At the end of the class, we played flashcards competition. This was still one of their favorite games.

Homework are:  

  • Write 5 times of cih, chiaf, sikoef, jixtiern
  • Recognize flashcards of lessons 1-5
  • Listen to the CD and learn to sing lessons 1-5

I'll be absent next week. Teacher Amy will help with the test. Wish all the kids do very well in the test!

Mandarin G2, Week 7, 3-8-09

  • 下週期中考,考第7,8,9,10課
  • 3/22舉行華語演講/朗讀比賽 

今天我們小考的字是「吱喳話泡茶」。有小朋友注意到我的聯絡單上「吱」的注音是ㄗ,不同於課本的ㄓ,是的,「吱」是破音字,ㄓ或ㄗ都可以念。Ryan 的爸爸也有注意到這個問題,他還問到「喳」ㄓㄚ是否也可念ㄗㄚ?其實「喳」也是破音字,但是它是念ㄔㄚ。

由於下週要考試,所以我們今天就複習考試的範圍。我從第十課課文開始,Ryan首先說他要念,於是我讓他念課文,他念得很好,我讓他選一個貼紙,然後其他小朋友也說他們也要念,所以我們就輪流把四課的課文都唸過,我還趁機考他們認字,讓他們highlight我念的生詞,大家都做得很好,可是Daniel 還是擔心因為他回台灣所以有兩課沒學到,會因此考不好,我看他煩惱得快要哭出來的樣子,就安慰他,到時候如果他錯的是他沒學到的,我不會算他錯啦,他才放下心來。我在想一樣缺課四次的Ezra一點都不擔心耶,孩子的個性就是如此不同;我兩個兒子也從來不會為考試擔心,從學校拿個大C回來也像沒事人似的,倒是把他老母急得頭髮白了好幾根!

最後我們分組比賽認字卡,男女對抗,由於Mandy請病假,我就讓Jonah當小老師,男生4人,女生4人比賽,結果女生以4分險勝,男生好不甘願,期待下次復仇的機會。

  • 把寫過的作業複習一遍

下週我因事請假,Mandy的媽媽會幫我監考,愷菱的媽媽也會在教室幫忙,希望小朋友們考試順利!

Taiwanese K, Week 6, 3-1-09

  • 3/15 Midterm test. We'll evaluate lessons 1-5.

According to the suggestion of a parent, now Teacher Amy will mark the homework after she checked.

The virtue of March is "Responsibility". I asked the kids what their responsibilities were. Some replied doing dishes, doing homework, and Samuel said: Take care of his younger sister, which was exactly the same as his big brother said. I think their mom is very lucky.

Today we taught lesson 5 Gagkhix 樂器(Musical Instrument). I played harmonic and recorder for the kids. These are fun and easy musical instruments at this age to play at home. The vocabularies for this lesson are: lapaq 喇叭 (horn)、hien’ar 絃仔 (violin)、toaxkor 大鼓 (drum)、tanglQo 銅鑼 (gong)、kngrkhiim 鋼琴 (piano)、khawkhiim 口琴 (harmonic)

The Taiwanese Alphabets we taught today were: k (kam’ar 柑仔), kh (khox 褲), h (hor 虎), g (gQo 鵝). Please note, the "Q" is a vowel and should be capitalized.

We did a craft: Look who's dancing. The kids had to follow the instructions. A child didn't want to do so, so his doll couldn't dance. Afterall he still had to compromise to have a dancing doll.

Homework is:

  • 學習單5樂器 (Please say the musical instruments in Taiwanese, and mark the ones you can play.)
  • Write 5 times of kam’ar, khox, hor, gQo
  • Make and recognize flashcards of lesson 5
  • Listen to the CD and learn to sing lesson 5

Mandarin G2, Week 6, 3-1-09

一上課,小朋友都會主動交上作業,我順便發回改好的作業,不知道家長們有沒有注意到現在小朋友寫的字比剛開學時工整多了,不知道是我啟用給等級:甲上、甲、甲下有激勵效果,還是孩子們的手部肌肉更成熟,拿筆更穩的結果?

小考考「群麻雀嘻哈」,有同學問:「嘻」又不在生字裡面,為什麼要考?哈!本課生字只有八個,我喜歡湊成10個,而且「嘻」就是恭喜的喜再加個口部就是了,剛好可以複習,下禮拜也再複習說話的「話」。

三月了,我們新的德目是「負責」,我問小朋友他們要對自己負責的事有哪些,他們都講得好好聽哦,從自己刷牙穿衣開始講到自動寫功課、彈鋼琴,希望他們真的能做到!

接著我們練習會話,我讓小朋友造句:如果我是……。他們開始發揮想像力,有人想做老師、老鷹、還有人想做上帝,可以保佑全地球的人類!哇,好偉大的志向!

最後,我們玩了類似蘿蔔蹲的遊戲,我把全班分成四組,他們自己取了老鷹、麻雀、燕子和蜂鳥的隊名,結果那組平常話最多、中文最好的男生最快輸,因為他們不夠團結,剛好給他們一個機會教育。
