Today we learned:

Reminders:

-Please play the CD at home twice a week for your child.  Lesson 1 "Zebra" is on track 1.

-There is no school on 9/5 because of Labor Day.

With a toy pot and a toy spoon, students make speaking Chinese fun.

It's getting more and more exciting!!

The Chinese nursery song "elephant" is so popular.  Students always ask to repeat it again and again.

It's the first day of school, and we learned:

-New words: Hello你好, teacher老師, young student小朋友, good morning早安, stop停, look看, listen聽, goodbye再見

-New song: 大象"Elephant"

Reminders:

1) Please bring a snack and drink to school every time.

2) Make sure you have my phone number available so you can call if you can't pick up your child on time.

3) First culture class is this coming Saturday at 11:30.  Please sign up for your child. It's fun and it's free!!

4) It's important to attend the class on time so your child won't miss any lessons.

We have a new classroom this year, and it is big.  How exciting!!  There were two students on the first day.  Some students were not able to make it last week.

The Chinese song "Little mouse" takes some practice.  Teacher is helping kids to do it right. 

We have two reward systems going on: one is stickers and another one is animal cards.

The students are learning and following teacher's body language.

Reminder:

-Parents can cut the homework sheet into flash card.  It's easier to carry around and practice.

-Go through the flash cards one by one with your kid.  And don't worry if you say it right or not.  Since they heard and read the vacabularies many times in the class, they can easily say it without your help.  However, parents need to make sure your kid read them every other day, so he/she won't forget.

Large and colorful pictures can help students pay more attention.

Drawing on the board is kids' favorite activity in the class.   They are very serious about their own "artwork". 

Miss Irene (who was the teacher for this class last semester, and now is the school Principle) stopped by to teach for 20 minutes.  The student are so focued and have fun too.

-halloween萬聖節, pumpkin南瓜, candy糖果, ghost鬼, bat蝙蝠, spider蜘蛛 in chinese

-a simple card game called "where are candies?" 糖果,糖果在哪裡?? ,so students know how to ask "where" and answer "right here"在這裡?

We have snow queen, blue princess, black cat and a fairy join us today.  I am happy to see everyone have their trick-or-treat bag ready.

Our teacher Li Nan got a cold and not able to be here.  Thanks Kristin(who dressed as a bumblebee) come to help the class today.

It's a rainy cold day.  Nobody is interested or excited in anything.  They are just so different today. 

The projector is not working.(seems it never works) We shows the students lots of fun pictures on computer. 

Choo-choo~~~~We are the little train going to break.  We finally see everyone's smile back.  After the break, the kids are back to normal again, nomal like happy, chatty and silly too.

Moon Festival Celebration:

The students had lots fun and the teachers did, too.

We have some picutures to share with you.

However, it seems there are problems with downloading pictures today.

I would like to try later to complete all the pictures.

This is the game called "Moon Cake Delivery".  School knows it will be hard for younger kids, so we use clay on top of sticks instead of using real moon cake.

Hooray~~~it's prize time!!!

Before the games, we had this red/blue wrist band on each student and told them which team they are in and who are the partners.  They were so excited.

Tug-a-war!! The most popular game of the day!!!

1. This blog will update every Monday.  Parents can download the homework here.  To leave the message of suggestions and ideas are also welcome. 

2. Next coming Saturday, we will have Chinese Moon Festival celebration at 10:30-12:30 after language class.  Please let your kid wear comfy shoes to join the activites including hopping and running games.  We will also have snack stand for moon cake, chinese snack and drinks.  Don't forget to bring some spare change if you are interested.
