在教师研习会中，与会老师都全神贯注，把握这次学习的好机会。

　　中新网11月11日电 据美国《世界日报》报道，为了增进教师教学技巧及教学经验交流，美国华州教师协会特于贝尔优图书馆举行一场教师研习会，由庄美足、王逸珏、何周书、徐婷婷 四位老师向大家介绍不同的教学方法和教具，共有50余华文老师出席，与会者受益良多、收获丰富。
　　在研习会中，庄美足介绍文字的奥妙，以生动活动的方式，解读中国文字的精髓。王逸珏则以实物介绍各式各样不同造型的小书及其使用方式，同时也发纸张剪刀等材料给参加的老师亲手制作，大家玩的不亦乐乎。
　　何周书按部就班，逐步教导大家操作电脑软件，让老师们学习以合乎时代朝流的数位教学来增加学习趣味。徐婷婷则为大家介绍几种录音工具，让老师或是学生能够把声音录制下来，反覆聆听。
　　当天的课程紧凑、内容丰富实用，所有与会老师都全神贯注，把握这次学习的好机会。主办单位于休息时间，还精心准备各种点心，让与会者可以在轻松的气氛下，利用时间互相交流讨论，以汇聚大家的教学心得，在未来运用到教学上，嘉惠更多莘莘学子。(王又春)

Background：话说50年代初期，有人提议汉字全部拼音，以解除小学生识数千汉字的痛苦。有语言学大师大不以为然，戏写一文施氏食狮史。全文每字的普通话发音都是shi。这篇文言作品在阅读时并没有问题，但当用拼音朗读本作品时，问题便出现了，这是古文同音字多的缘故。据称，本文为汉语中最难读的一篇，如要尝试，请先备清水一杯、小棍一把，以免舌齿受伤。

石室诗士施氏，嗜狮，誓食十狮。施氏时时适市视狮。十时，适十狮适市。是时，适施氏适市。氏视是十狮，恃矢势，使是十狮逝世。氏拾是十狮尸，适石室。石室湿，氏使侍拭石室。石室拭，氏始试食是十狮。食时，始识是十狮，实十石狮尸。试释是事。
 

 白话文译文：《施氏吃狮子的故事》
石室里住着一位诗人姓施，爱吃狮子，决心要吃十只狮子。他常常去市场看狮子。十点钟，刚好有十只狮子到了市场。那时候，刚好施氏也到了市场。他看见那十只狮子，便放箭，把那十只狮子杀死了。他拾起那十只狮子的尸体，带到石室。石室湿了水，施氏叫侍从把石室擦干。石室擦干了，他才试试吃那十只狮子。吃的时候，才发现那十只狮子，原来是十只石头的狮子尸体。

Mae's friend (chou yue) volunteered to cook some vegi dishes for a group of 20 to 30 people and borrowed my kitchen to do the cooking class. Chou yue and her friends bought all the raw materials and pre-cooked most of the food before they came to my house. One of Chou Yue's friend spent lots of time told us why it's good to eat vegi dishes and why it's not good for our earth if we eat meat. I admire they dedicate their time to improve people's health and change the environment.

I was invited to Alaska to give a 4 days' immersion intitute to foreign langauge teachers of Anchorage School District from Aug. 3 to Aug. 6 2009. Their resource teacher Laural attended to my session in 2008 Waflt/Coflt joint conference.  She liked some of the ideas that I used to teach foreign language through Eric Carle's Books so she recommended me to her boss - Janice Gullickson, the world language director of Anchorage School District. 

Anchorage school district has immersion programs for about 20 years. They have Japaense, Russian, German, and Spanish Immersion. They started their Chinese Flex and Chinese program in high school last year. Science there are some literacy gaps between elementary and middle schools in general that Janice decided to have a immersion institute for the foreign language teachers. That's why I was invited to give the workshop.

I started to prepare the topics since May.  All I knew was that they would like literacy related topics, so I chose the following topics for them: literacy activites tapped into multiple intelligence, Kamishabi and Japanese culture, the demo lesson about the Mouse Bride, Eric Calre's books, make little books, literacy activities through origami, thinking maps, project GLAD. We even spent a whole day in the Mac lab. I design a scavenger hunt for teachers to search for resources on line. Every teacher seemed to find a lot of resource through the chance to search online themselves.

Since they can get credit through University of Alaska in Anchroage, they have to turn in a homework in one month. They have to design a ppt include the ideas that they learned from the workshop.

I also got the chance to talk to the Chinese teachers of Chinese school in Anchroage. I was lucky and touched to see a group of devoted Chinese teachers willinging to spend time together to prepare for the start of the new school year.

Kazue (a Japanese teacher) and I took some pictures during the workshop and I made it into a video clip and showed them the fourth day of the course.

One of the instructor from Cohort 2 told the teachers about the movie "To Sir With Love" and said that it's a good movie to learn classroom management. Every time he watches it, he had  differently.

有朋自遠方來的由來.......

有一天他們到齊國的城門口時,一個不小心,孔子扭到腳了

子路見狀,便背起孔子到附近的客棧休息休息

子路要孔子先暫時熱敷一下,就跑去藥材店幫孔子抓藥

孔子於是叫店小二準備一盆熱水讓他熱敷

想不到齊國有不少當年和孔子是拜把的朋友們,

一聽到孔子來到此地,紛紛跑來探望老朋友

問題是孔子重禮,在朋友面前脫光鞋子熱敷,成何體統!!

於是只好忍著疼痛和朋友們話家常

久逢知己千杯少,那群朋友不知道孔子有傷在身,和孔子是一聊就停不下來

到了晚上八九點才走

這下可慘了,孔子的腳,腫的跟個小饅頭似的

子路回來看到大驚曰:老師,你怎麼沒有照我講的去熱敷呢!!

孔子嘆了口氣曰:

"有朋自遠方來,不易熱敷...."  

扭傷腳....其實是要先冰敷....
