本學期給了學生一個製作短劇影片的功課. 足足想了幾天幾夜要出甚麼題目,最後還是給了一個大綱, 讓學生分組盡情自由創作發揮. 給了三個班短劇影片功課,學生當然也不會閒著不找我麻煩,所以這個月的Office Hour熱鬧極了,學生來來去去,不停地帶來各式各樣的狀況來磨練我的心智耐性.
第一,學生年齡差距. 有三位學生跟其他學生差距很大,他們分別是十歲,七十五歲,和八十四歲. 學習用數位相機來拍影片, 對他們是新鮮事.
第二,學生非凡的創造力. 規定三分鐘的時間限制,有一組學生剪輯了之後,長達十分鐘還不罷休.
第三, 求好心切的學生，來找了我三四次就是為了看她們拍的影片好不好.
我有這麼好這麼認真的學生們,當然是身先士卒,個別指導,殷殷教誨, 說得喉痛聲啞而不悔了.

IVC Chinese IB Course Video Project Assignment
This project challenges you to create your own short video (between 3 and 5minutes) to support your Chinese language learning. Use iMovie (Mac user) or Movie Maker (Window use) to create the video. The video should be designed to support these objectives:
This video presents Chinese language and culture aspects.
This video shows what you have learned in this course.
This video presents a clear idea and develops a deeper understanding of Chinese language
Create your own topic or use one of the suggested topics,
1) My college life- study, and other activities
2) Interviewing a Chinese person or introducing oneself
3) Visiting a friend and have dinner together
4) Ordering food in a Chinese restaurant
5) Comparing culture differences in between China and USA
Rubric: 1) Overall effectiveness of video
2) Effectively and clearly in language, so the viewers can understand
3) Good beginning, middle and ending
4) Indication of thinking and learning
5) Good audio and visual, use of media resources(music, text, voice-over, pictures, video)
In a group of not in a group: You may choose to form a group with no more than 3 persons, or work on your own. Students who wish to earn the credit need to be seen in the video, and SPEAK CHINESE.
Please let the instructor know your group members and name of topic before you start.

三人行,必有我師. 這句聖賢名言常常令我有新的體會.在外語語言教室裡,將學生分成小組,設計情境讓學生練習會話是一種有效的溝通式學習方式.前提是,學生的程度要相差不多. 真實的情況是,學生的個性以及成熟度也很重要.這學期調整教學方法,在課堂上給學生很多時間做自由說話的機會,結果是學生是有很多說中文的機會,可也把本老師累壞了.聽我道來,今天是本學期最後一次上課,上十一課,在餐館裡點菜. 學了很多又好又實用的生詞,比如, 中國菜的菜名,食物名稱,飲料,還有買單,我請客等等的餐館用語.可是就有兩組學生給你來幾句這樣的對白--
服務員,我要八瓶啤酒.
服務員,我要點一萬個餃子.你沒有?
服務員,沒有狗肉,沒關係. 我要點一盤貓肉湯,一盤貓炒麵.
你說,我應該做什麼表情才恰當?美國學生雖然活潑,但是想法總在往"Funny"的路上走.給學生合作學習的機會,結果變成合作搗蛋時,你該如何?
你想做什麼? 這是今天我問學生的問題,不知道自己想要做什麼的話,就應該先想一想.當我還是個小學生的時候,常常被老師問, 你長大以後要做什麼?要是今天我又被問到的話,我會說:
第一,我要做一個能誠實面對自己的人
第二,我要做一個快樂的人
第三,我要做一個健康的人
這是在家庭和工作之間漸漸領悟出來的.能夠誠實面對自己的喜歡和不喜歡的事,就能找到真正想做的事,也就無怨無悔了.能夠找到讓自己快樂的生活方式的人,人生的每一刻就是最珍貴深刻的體驗.能夠心理上身理上都活得健康, 就很少有被限制的機會了.每天早上起床,晚上睡覺以前,都想一想,今天是不是做到這三件事了?
在育林中文學校進進出出也有十四年的悠久歷史了,今年又回來效命一年擔任教務工作,在跟教師的談話中,了解很多周末中文學校的難處.其中以學生程度相差太大,缺席太多,學習缺乏聯貫性為最大問題.今天早上提出來把文化課的功課放在教師的網站上提供學生練習, 網路的教學應用普及,可以讓學生在網上做很多練習. 把功課在網站上並不是甚麼新鮮的事,但是要沒有達到學習效果的話,你放了再多再絢爛的作業也看不到學生進步.
