Listen to this story for the New Year. You may also use this website, Listen to This, to create your own listening materials. First of all you find an article, then you copy and paste it onto the site (200 Chinese characters a time) and choose a male or a female voice. After a few seconds, the site will present your article with pinyin and then you may sit back and listen. Here is an example:
